I just found a GREAT way to see what kind of materials, books, and publications are out there, and who you can borrow them from!
Type in your topic, and up pops everything the World Catalog could find in library collections! It will search locally, or around the world! It gives all the information you need to build a bibliography: title, author, pulisher info, contents.. You can select as many as you want, and WorldCat will build an APA formatted citations list for you if you click on the Citations View.
I’m writing a book about teaching and learning English pronunciation and intonation, and I wanted to see what materials have been written and cataloged already, and it was SO EASY! I typed “pronunciation and intonation” into the search box and got everything from DVDs to articles to CDs to textbooks. Instant-Presto!!!!!
Here’s a tiny list of two items from that search, so you can see what WorldCat is like: http://www.worldcat.org/profiles/peggytharpe/lists/2954717
Really, this is great! Check out the whole world’s library catalog!
